DOTHAN, AL -- It took four extra minutes for the Blount Girls Basketball Team to keep it's season alive on Tuesday morning. The Leopards outscored Baldwin County 15-3 in overtime, topping the Tigers 72-60 in a Class 6A South Regional semifinal.
Baldwin County's Denosha Maye had a chance to win it for the Tigers in regulation, going to the free throw line with one second left, trailing 57-56. However, Maye missed the first free throw. She rallied to make the second free throw, tying the game at 57 and forcing overtime.
In the extra period, the Leopards took control, starting overtime to a 9-0 run. Blount (30-3) held on for the 12-point win, advancing to face the winner of Enterprise and Murphy in the 6A Regional Final on Friday at 9 a.m. at the Dothan Civic Center.
Tyler Pheilon led Blount with 25 points and nine rebounds. Cierra Johnson added 19 points, while Whytney Singleton and Alexis Smith added 12 points each.
Coco Knight led Baldwin County with 21 points. The Tigers end the year with a 21-5 record.
