Blount Rolls to Final 48 With Dominating Win Over Murphy

DOTHAN, AL -- Blount blew open a close game, outscoring Murphy 38-15 in the second half to win the 6A Girls South Regional Final on Friday morning 58-29. With the win, Blount advances to the Final 48 in Birmingham next week.

The Leopards led 20-14 at halftime, but took control right out of the locker room in the second half. Blount outscored Murphy 17-7 in the third quarter, before rolling to the 29-point win.

Cierra Johnson scored 24 points, including a 14-of-14 performance from the free throw line to lead Blount (31-3). Tyler Phelion added 14 points for the Leopards.

Laderricka Edwin scored 11 points to lead Murphy, who finishes the year with a 19-8 record.
