Beachy returns to Braves' rotation

ATLANTA (AP) -- The Atlanta Braves activated Brandon Beachy from the 15-day disabled list before his start against the Colorado Rockies on Monday night.
Beachy missed 105 games dating back to June 16, 2012, against Baltimore, his last start before undergoing right elbow ligament replacement surgery.
Atlanta placed starter Paul Maholm on the DL to make room for Beachy on the 25-man roster. Maholm has a bruised left wrist.
Beachy, 26, went 5-5 and with a 2.00 ERA in 13 starts last season. In nine rehab starts this year, the right-hander went 3-4 with a 2.93 ERA.
Left-hander Scott Downs, acquired earlier Monday in a trade with the Los Angeles Angels for minor league pitcher Cory Rasmus, was in uniform after his flight arrived from Dallas at 6 p.m.
The Braves designated right-hander Kameron Loe for assignment to make room for Downs on the roster.
