Basketball coaches moving in and out of the Wiregrass

By  |

Times they are a changin... for high school basketball programs in the Wiregrass that is.

Recently, four programs have hired new coaches. Ashford High School hired Chase Lewis from Rehobeth to replace Bart McWaters, Dale County High brought in Ty Townsend from Enterprise to take over after Pate Harrison, Elba's girl's team is welcoming Shaun Hammonds back after a one year hiatus, and Mandy Collins replaces Tiffany Andrews as the new Wicksburg girls head coach.

While these four spots are already filled, four others are still empty.

The Enterprise boy's basketball team is searching for a replacement after the departure of Coach Kenny Hill last week, Richard Tisdale left G.W. Long with an opening, the Eufala girl's squad is on the hunt for a new leader as is Pike County High's boy's basketball team.

Between the recent hires and current openings, the total of area coaching changes from the end of the past season to current is now at least 14.
