TROY, Ala. – For the second time in the three years the Troy baseball team is headed to an NCAA Regional, as the Trojans will be the No. 3 seed at the Tallahassee Regional.
Troy will face No. 2 seed Alabama on Friday at 11 a.m. CDT on ESPNU. In the teams’ previous meeting, the Trojans and Crimson Tide faced off in Tuscaloosa on May 8; Troy fell to Alabama 11-2. Florida State, the No. 7 national seed, will face No. 4 Savannah State at 4 p.m. CDT at Dick Howser Stadium.
Ticket information for this weekend’s regional will be available as soon as it is made available by the host site. Check back with TroyTrojans.com for the latest information or follow the Trojans on Twitter (@TroyAthletics) for ticket updates.
Troy's selection to the NCAA Tournament is its fourth since joining the Sun Belt in 2006; the Trojans also participated in the NCAA Tournament in 2006, 2007 and 2011. The four selections will lead the Sun Belt during Troy's time in the league. In that time span, Louisiana-Lafayette has made three regional appearances, while FIU, South Alabama and Western Kentucky all have two appearances respectively.
If the Trojans win this weekend’s regional and move on to a Super Regional, Troy matches up with the Bloomington Regional, which features Indiana, Austin Peay, Florida and Valparaiso.
All of Troy’s games at the Tallahassee Regional will be televised on the ESPN family of networks starting Friday.
