B.C. Rain Tops Faith Academy for 5A Girls South Regional Title

DOTHAN, AL -- B.C. Rain and Faith Academy needed overtime to decide their Class 5A Girls South Regional Final on Friday. Faith Academy forced overtime with 13 seconds to go on a putback by Lakhylian Rankins, but B.C. Rain pulled away in OT for the 59-53 victory.

With the win, B.C. Rain advanced to the Final 48 in Birmingham next week. Faith Academy ends the year with a 23-6 record.

Faith Academy led for most of the game, before B.C. Rain rallied in the fourth quarter. The Rams led by seven points entering the fourth, but found themselves trailing in the final seconds before Rankins' rebound and putback forced overtime.

In OT, the teams traded early baskets before a 3-point play by Jamya Williams with 1:30 remaining but B.C. Rain (26-5) ahead to stay. Williams finished with a game-high 30 points.

Unique Thompson scored 17 points and grabbed 24 rebounds in the losing effort.
