Auburn, Ala. - Auburn softball signee Lexi Davis was named the ESPNHS National Player of the Year after posting a 33-1 record as a pitcher and leading Porter Ridge High School to the Class 4A state championship.
Davis was also named the Gatorade State Player of the Year in North Carolina after the 2012 spring season.
During her senior season at Porter Ridge, Davis tossed 22 shutouts and finished the year with a 0.23 ERA. Davis excelled at the plate too, hitting .450 with eight home runs and 42 RBI.
In the state playoffs, Davis helped Porter Ridge defeat four teams ranked in the top five of the state top-25 en route to the title.
Davis finished her high school career with a 90-13 record as a pitcher with 26 home runs and 126 RBI. In the classroom, Davis posted a 3.89 GPA.
Davis is one of seven incoming freshmen Auburn signed. The freshman class will begin their collegiate careers in fall of 2012 and begin competition in spring of 2013.
