Auburn basketball coach Bruce Pearl has announced an agreement to play Xavier in a home-and-home series beginning in the 2014-15 season at Auburn Arena.

"Xavier has been a consistent top 25 program," Pearl said. "They are talented and play an attractive style. Our fans will appreciate watching them."

Xavier, a member of the BIG EAST, went 21-13 last season (10-8 BIG EAST) and made its eighth NCAA Tournament appearance in the last nine seasons. The program has put together eight 20-win seasons in the last nine years and 16 20-win seasons in the last 18 years.

In the 10 years from 2004-13, Xavier made two NCAA Tournament Elite Eight appearances and three NCAA Sweet 16 appearances.

Auburn trails Xavier in the all-time series, 4-3, with Auburn winning the first three meetings (1962, '68, '70) and Xavier the last four (1971, '72, Jan. 2008, Dec. '08). This will be just the second time the two teams meet at Auburn.

Pearl last coached against Xavier in 2007-08 when No. 12 Tennessee defeated Xavier, 82-75, at Cintas Center.

Auburn will return the game at the Cintas Center in the 2015-16 season.
