AUBURN, Alabama -- Auburn is looking for ways to increase ticket sales, but athletics director Jay Jacobs says the Tigers may simply need to win first before fans start gobbling up tickets.

Season ticket sales for the upcoming football season are down down 4.7 percent when compared to sales at this time last year, Auburn confirmed Thursday. The Tigers have lost "about $600,000" of potential sales as a result, but scholarship seating levels are at an "all-time high" for the season, Jacobs said Thursday.

Slow sales with lower-end tickets and a wait-and-see approach for some fans after a 3-9 season (the school's worst in 60 years) are to blame. The school started selling season tickets to the general public June 7.
