Auburn among nation's most improved teams in offseason, per CoachingSearch.com

AUBURN, Alabama -- Inside the coaching offices at Auburn, expectations are high.

They expect to speed past a three-win season, one that ended with Gene Chizik's exit in November 2012 and a "new day" with the hiring of Gus Malzahn in December. The installation of the hurry-up, no-huddle began in the spring with mixed results, but improvements were made and there's more to learn as the Tigers continue their search for a starting quarterback.

Veteran defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson installed his 4-2-5 scheme and several players caught his eye. The depth, he says, is deeper than any first-year unit he has coached in the SEC (Alabama, Mississippi State and South Carolina).

But what's the feeling outside the offices? Where does Auburn stack up with the national media?
