ASHFORD, AL -- The Ashford Academy Football Team put together one of the best seasons in school history in 2012. The Falcons advanced to the state semifinals in AISA Class A, thanks to a large and talented senior class.
Now, a second member of that team has signed a football scholarship. Defensive lineman Gil Bauer has signed with Huntingdon College in Montgomery.
Bauer says it's a dream come true to continue his career at the next level.
"You know, it's one of those things where everybody tries to go to college and be a college athlete," Bauer said. "I mean, who doesn't want to be a college athlete. It's all about getting to that next step, and you've got to push yourself and strive for it.
"I've put in my work and I just want to say, it's amazing."
Bauer is the second Falcons player to sign with Huntingdon College, joining Colby Turvin, who picked the Hawks earlier this year.
