MONTGOMERY, Alabama -- The Ashford Academy fans and players barely waited for the final seconds to tick off.
When the clock at Huntingdon College's Roland Arena reached zero, a mixture of players, fans and cheerleaders gathered at the foot of the bleachers to celebrate.
The 58-37 win over Abbeville Christian in the AISA Class A boys championship game marked the Falcons' second state title and the first since 1990.
"I can't believe this just happened," senior and tournament MVP Alex Morris said. "This feels so good. When I transferred to Ashford, I had a lot of people telling me I was making a mistake and that we would never win a championship. Well, tonight we're champions."
