Alabama's recent surge of recruiting activity continued on Monday with the commitment of Minnesota offensive lineman JC Hassenauer. The 6-foot-2, 290-pound lineman picked up a scholarship offer from the Crimson Tide during Alabama's OL-DL prospect camp over the weekend and made his commitment public on Monday, according to BamaOnline.
Hassenauer, the Crimson Tide's 13th commitment for the class of 2014, ranks as the nation's No. 7 center prospect according to 247Sports. After an impressive junior season at St. Paul's East Ridge High School, Hassenauer captured national attention with a dominant performance at the Memphis Nike Camp this spring where he earned an invitation to Nike's The Opening.
Hassenauer chose the Crimson Tide over offers from Minnesota and Vanderbilt. He is the Crimson Tide's second offensive line commit for the 2014 class following California guard Viane Talamaivo.
The commitment moves Alabama to the No. 2 spot in the 247Sports Team Recruiting Rankings, trailing only Texas A&M.
