Alabama's Justin Thomas wasn't in the mix at the end of a dramatic final round Sunday at the Travelers Championship, but it's hard to find much fault in what the rising junior accomplished over four rounds at TPC River Highlands.

Thomas, who entered Sunday's round in a tie for 14th place, shot a 3-over (73) to finish the event in a tie for 30th with 12 other golfers at 3-under. The Goshen, Ky., native birdied the ninth and 15th holes to help mitigate the damage of five bogies.

Veteran Ken Duke, who ascended up the leaderboard Sunday with his 4-under (66), defeated Chris Stroud in a playoff to win the tournament.

Because he played as an amateur, Thomas can not collect what would have been his share of the $6.1 million purse.
