TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- Alabama center Carl Engstrom will miss the rest of the season with torn knee ligaments.
Engstrom had surgery Tuesday to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament in his left knee.
He was injured just three minutes into the Crimson Tide's game at No. 11 Cincinnati on Dec. 1.
Alabama coach Anthony Grant said Wednesday that Engstrom "is a very valuable member of our team and will be greatly missed."
The 7-foot-1 junior from Sweden had played in seven games this season and started three.
Engstrom is averaging 3.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and one blocked shot per game.
