The Alabama High School Athletic Association will decide on the reclassification of its member schools on Wednesday. The reclassification is for the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 school years.
Reclassification happens every two years. For the first time since 1984, the Central Board of Control is considering adding a 7A classification. There are two reclassification options on the table. There is a six classification model and a new seven classification model. According to AL.com, AHSAA executive director Steve Savarese says there has been as many as 14 different reclassification options presented to the board at one time.
The two options will be voted on at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at a Central Board meeting. The information will be released shortly after. A press conference will be held at 1 p.m. explaining the reasoning for the decision.
