TROY, Ala. – Senior Shane McCain has been named Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

McCain tossed eight scoreless innings striking out 12 batters, a career high, in Troy's 3-0 win over UALR on Saturday. The southpaw allowed just four hits and one walk.

Troy took the lead in the top of the tenth inning on a three-run home run from David Hall; McCain received a no-decision.

The Fort Pierce, Fla., native is 3-3 on the season with a 2.61 ERA, the second best mark in the league. McCain's 75 strikeouts and 69 innings pitched tops the conference.

McCain becomes the third Troy player and second pitcher to win a weekly conference award this season. David Hall took home Player of the Week the first week of the season and Tanner Hicks was dubbed Pitcher of the Week following a shutout victory over South Alabama on March 14.
