The Town of New Brockton has been looking for ways to save money each month.
One suggestion was to ask the Coffee County Schools to help pay for utilities at the municipal ball park they share.
The school board has now unanimously agreed to consider purchasing the property should the town council decide to sell it.
If the Coffee County Schools purchase the ball park they hope to be able to upgrade the facility.
"We share the same children and we feel like they deserve the best facility that we can afford to have for them to play, so I think it would be a win win situation for the city and the school system,” says Coffee County Schools Superintendent Linda Ingram.
The next step is to appraise the value of the property and look into the legal responsibility that would come with the possible purchase.
