Auburn's quarterback starter undetermined

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - The Auburn Tigers have a quarterback quandary --- Stick with the experienced Brandon Cox or turn the ball over to athletic freshman Kodi Burns.

The resolution might not be revealed until the Tigers take the field against New Mexico State on Saturday, but they will likely play both.

Coach Tommy Tuberville says Cox is still going to play. He says he might be the starter, but that's not yet decided. And Tuberville says he won't divulge who will be the starter.

The Tigers (1-2, 0-1 Southeastern Conference) are desperately seeking answers for an offense that has turned the ball over 10 times in the past two games, both losses.

Cox has been intercepted six times in three games, including two early picks that led to his benching in a 19-14 loss to Mississippi State.

In came Burns, who mostly ran the ball with option plays and quarterback draws.

Tuberville and offensive coordinator Al Borges indicated they would come up with a quarterback plan before Auburn returns to practice Tuesday morning.

Borges says he prefers not to rotate at that position, but, he says, "if I think that's what's going to help us move the ball and win games, I'll do anything."

Tuberville says they've got to figure out a way and a system to probably play both of them.
