ATLANTA (AP) - Braves rookie Jason Heyward has been placed on
the 15-day disabled list with a deep bone bruise in his left thumb.

The injury was disclosed in an MRI on Monday.

The Braves announced the move following their 5-0 win over the
Washington Nationals. Heyward was held out of the Braves' starting
lineup for the third straight game.

Heyward's batting average has dropped to .251, the low mark for
the rookie outfielder since April 30. He is in a 1-for-16 slump.

Heyward has 11 homers and 45 RBIs.
