TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Florida State's self-described "bunch
of nobodies" is headed back to Omaha, Neb. for college baseball's
version of the world series, looking for a national title that has
eluded the Seminoles during 19 previous visits.
Indeed, there is no Buster Posey or J.D. Drew for coach Mike
Martin to showcase on this visit.
The offensive igniters include three guys who played in the 2008
College World Series - senior shortstop Stephen Cardullo and junior
outfielders Mike McGee and Tyler Holt.
Sophomore third baseman Sherman Johnson and freshman first
baseman Jayce Boyd have added pop to the lineup.
The Seminoles (47-18) open the tournament Saturday against Texas
Christian University, which is making its first trip to the event.
