HOOVER, Ala. (AP) - Austin Maddox went 2-for-4 with a pair of
RBIs and Florida stayed alive in the Southeastern Conference
tournament with a 5-3 victory over Arkansas on Thursday.
Alex Panteliodis pitched into the seventh inning to help the
top-seeded Gators (41-14) eliminate Arkansas (40-18).
Florida will face the Vanderbilt-LSU loser on Friday in another
Relievers Jeff Barfield and Kevin Chapman didn't allow a run
after Panteliodis exited two outs into the seventh.
Brian Johnson and Maddox had back-to-back RBI singles in the
third to help Florida take a 3-0 lead. The Gators' unearned run in
the eighth proved important.
Arkansas had runners on first and third base with one out in the
ninth but Chapman got James McCann to hit into a game-ending double
Collin Kuhn had a two-run triple to lead the Razorbacks.
