HOOVER, Ala. (AP) - The accelerated version of the SEC baseball
tournament is set to begin.

Top-seeded Florida leads the eight-team field into the event
running Wednesday through Sunday at Regions Park in Hoover, Ala.
The double-elimination tournament will feature new rules designed
to speed up play.

Pitchers will have 20 seconds to get off a pitch when nobody's
on base, and teams must take the field in 108 seconds between
half-innings. The penalty is an automatic ball for the hitter.

There will also be less time between games and earlier starts on
Wednesday and Thursday.

The Gators open with defending national champion LSU. SEC West
champion Auburn starts against in-state rival Alabama. Other
first-round games are South Carolina-Mississippi and
Arkansas-Vanderbilt.
