HOOVER, Ala. (AP) - Gene Chizik teamed up with Bo Jackson to win
a putting competition at a charity golf event in Birmingham.
Then the Auburn coach and his wife, Jonna, headed to Children's
Hospital for a visit that they quietly arranged themselves.
No cameras or tape recorders were on hand for the visit Thursday
afternoon. Chizik says he and his wife felt like they needed to go
privately and try to bring a little cheer to some ailing kids.
Earlier Chizik and former Auburn great Jackson beat Alabama
basketball coach Anthony Grant and ex-Crimson Tide quarterback Jay
Barker in an 18-hole competition for charity on the putting green
at Ross Bridge. It was part of the festivities leading up to the
Champions Tour's Regions Charity Classic.
