Montgomery, AL- The wiregrass is well represented in Montgomery this week at the AHSAA softball tournament.
One of the first games of the day saw the Ariton purple cats taking on Ragland in their tournament opener.
Ariton was down big early, but couldn't muster enough of a comeback and fell to ragland in their first game 9 to 4.
Headland saw action Thursday morning against Winfield.
Katie Beth Drew was responsible for the first run of the game with a 2 our Home run in the first inning. That run wouldn't stand for long though as Winfield scored 3 in the bottom of the first on their way to a 7-4 victory.
Rehobeth had a tough task coming into their tournament opener going up against a Mortimer Jordan team with only 4 losses on the season. Jordan scored early and often in an 8 run first inning on their way to a 12-0 win against Rehobeth.
Eufaula led for most of their opening matchup against Springville but late in the game a bloop double that just stayed fair brought in 2 for Springville to give them a 2-1 lead.
The Tigers couldn't rally late, and fell to springville 2-1.
