NEW YORK (AP) - Atlanta hung on to defeat the New York Mets 7-6 and pull to within 3 and a-half games of the National League East leaders.
The Mets rallied for three runs in the bottom of the ninth, capped by a David Wright home run, before Braves left fielder Willie Harris robbed Carlos Delgado of a game-tying home run to help preserve the victory.
Earlier in the game, Harris made a leaping catch at the wall to take away an extra-base hit from Moises Alou.
Chipper Jones put the Braves ahead in the fifth with a three-run homer. It was his 19th career homer in 83 games at Shea Stadium.
Starter Tim Hudson won his seventh straight decision to improve to 13-and-5 and helped himself with a squeeze bunt RBI.
Oscar Villarreal got the final two outs for his first major league save.
New York starter John Maine absorbed the loss and drops to 12-7.
Atlanta took two of three from the Mets and have now won all four series between the teams this year, going 8-4 overall.
