TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Jimmy Johns says he likes his move from tailback to fullback. The junior said it's an opportunity to hit people.
Johns was the Crimson Tide's backup tailback last season and had been one of several contenders for the starting job at that position. But the 6-foot-2, 233-pounder has at least temporarily been moved to fullback.
He ran for 293 yards and a touchdown on 66 carries behind Kenneth Darby last season and has been the team's number 2 rusher the past two years.
The move could leave Terry Grant or Glen Coffee as Darby's successor, but coach Nick Saban has not publicly singled anyone out as a front-runner.
