TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - DJ Hall blames himself. The Alabama receiver is poised to become the Crimson Tide's most prolific pass catcher this season.
But he has drawn scant notice on the preseason All-Southeastern Conference teams.
He wasn't among the five receivers on the first- and second-team units selected by SEC media in July, overshadowed by a collection of star receivers including Vanderbilt's Earl Bennett and Marcus Monk of Arkansas.
It's nothing new. Hall didn't receive a single vote for The Associated Press All-SEC teams after last season despite catching 62 passes for a school-record one-thousand-56 yards.
The Tide hasn't had a first-team All-SEC receiver since Freddie Milons in 1999, and he was the first in six years.
Hall downplays his omission from those honors and his pursuit of the records. He needs 153 yards to pass Pro Football Hall of Famer Ozzie Newsome, whose two-thousand-70 yards is tops among Alabama
Hall is also only 26 catches shy of Milons' Tide mark for career catches (152).
But he probably couldn't recite those numbers. He said he doesn't focus on records. He just wants to win.
