Chizik: It's Better the Second Time Around

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Coach Gene Chizik says the Auburn Tigers are
ahead of where they were last year at this point.

That's because a year ago the coaching staff was new and the
players were having to learn new systems. Now, they're more
familiar with each other and their ways of doing things.

Chizik says that's evident in the intensity and energy levels at

practice. The offense is closer to working at the tempo coordinator
Gus Malzahn wants.
Players also know what they can or, more importantly, cannot get
away with.

Malzahn says it was harder to evaluate the quarterbacks last
spring because players at other positions were also making more
mistakes since they didn't yet have the new offense down.
Malzahn says the coaches' expectations are a lot higher this
spring.
