TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama cornerback Phelon Jones has
already proven he has good timing.
Jones won national championship rings at LSU during his redshirt
year and for the Crimson Tide, when he sat out after transferring.
Now, he's vying for a starting job in a Tide secondary that must
replace three starters.
Jones didn't feel like he had that chance after the Tigers hired
defensive coordinator John Chavis in January 2008 and he slipped
down the depth chart.
Among the other contenders are Dre Kirkpatrick and B.J. Scott.
