TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama coach gave fans a glimpse of the team Sunday, but not the preseason depth chart.
He said the only thing that's important is "player improvement and player development" - not who's starting at what position.
Hundreds of Alabama fans got a look at the team today and braved sweltering heat to watch practice at Bryant-Denny Stadium as part of Fan Day festivities.
It was the first practice Saban has opened to the public since his arrival in January.
It's now three days into preseason workouts and Saban and his staff aren't shedding any insight into who's leading the battles for several up-for-grabs positions.
The most prominent of those is at running back, where Terry Grant, Glen Coffee and Jimmy Johns, are clamoring for the spot.
But offensive coordinator Major Applewhite had his lips sealed on the issue.
He said it wouldn't be fair to size up a position until they get further along in fall camp.
