BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Nick Saban said Wednesday he'd like to see his Crimson Tide take on some of college football's biggest powerhouses.

Saban said his scheduling philosophy includes playing one big, high-interest intersectional game a year. He said such games generate fan interest and get TV exposure.

Saban mentioned Notre Dame, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Penn State and Oklahoma as teams he'd like to play, The Birmingham News reported on its Web site.

The Tide is slated to play Penn State and Georgia Tech on its future schedules, along with Florida State this season.

Earlier Wednesday, Saban spoke with a group of children at the Cleveland Avenue YMCA in Montgomery.

Saban spoke to approximately 400 children for about 20 minutes. He urged them to try to succeed, to persevere and to build character, The Montgomery Advertiser reported on its Web site.

Saban and his wife Terry contributed money to the Cleveland Avenue YMCA director Willie Jones. The donation is part of their "Nick's Kids Foundation."
