TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama quarterback John Parker Wilson, with a veteran offensive unit to guide, is looking to put the Crimson Tide back on the national scene this fall.

Wilson set school records last season, including more than 2,700 yards passing yards, and the junior signal caller will have wideouts DJ Hall and Keith Brown back, along with the Tide's three top tight ends and an intact offensive line.

Under new coach Nick Saban, Wilson said he likes the upbeat tempo on offense and believes the team has something to prove following last year's 6-7 record.

On other topics:

- Wilson defends his former prep coach - Hoover High's Rush Propst - and whose school has been beset by grade-changing allegations. He said Propst knows how scrutinized the program is and said he's not going to do anything to jeopardize the program.

On another matter, Wilson wants fans to get his name correct: It's not JP Wilson, not John and not JPW.
