Jim Wells Reinstated as Bama's Baseball Coach

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Jim Wells has apparently had a change of
heart - he's returning to the Capstone as head baseball coach.

Alabama Athletics Director Mal Moore, in a statement Wednesday, said he has accepted Wells' request to return to the school. The 52-year-old Wells announced his retirement from coaching almost a week ago today.

Wells is the winningest baseball coach in Alabama history with a 553-and-272 record. His teams made ten NCAA Tournament appearances and three trips to the College World Series.

Wells was two-time SEC Coach of the Year and his teams won six SEC Tournament titles.

The university said Wells will be available to the media at an afternoon news conference at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.
