Barnes Transferring from Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama quarterback Jimmy Barnes has decided to transfer to a Division I-AA school, but he hasn't picked one yet.

The sophomore has three years more years of eligibility left.

Barnes moved up to second on the depth chart behind John Parker Wilson when Marc Guillon left school during last season.

But he couldn't do contact drills during spring practice because of a knee injury.

Freshman Greg McElroy worked behind Wilson during the spring.

The Crimson Tide's only other scholarship quarterback is incoming freshman Nick Fanuzzi, a 6-foot-3, 200-pounder from San Antonio, Texas.
