ATLANTA (AP) - Rich Hill pitched eight stellar innings as the Cubs beat Atlanta 2-to-1 in Lou Piniella's return to the Chicago dugout.
Hill allowed three hits and matched his career high with eleven strikeouts to lead the Cubs to their fourth victory in five games.
Hill blanked the Braves after Andruw Jones homered in the third inning.
Piniella was back at the helm after serving a four-game suspension for his tirade against an umpire last Saturday. The Cubs went 3-and-1 under bench coach Alan Trammell.
Alfonso Soriano led off the game with a triple and scored on Felix Pie's RBI single. Soriano also singled home the Cubs' second run in the second inning.
Ryan Dempster pitched the ninth for his 12th save.
Chuck James slipped to 5-and-5 despite holding the Cubs to six hits in seven innings.
