Biscuits' Longoria Named SL Player of Month

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Montgomery Biscuits third baseman Evan Longoria has been named the Southern League Player of the Month for May.

The award is voted on by the managers of league teams.

Longoria was the third overall draft pick of Tampa Bay in 2006. He batted .317 in May with six doubles, seven home runs and 25 RBIs in 28 games.

The 21-year-old also set a team record by reaching base in 37 consecutive games.
