Tide's Salem gets ESPN the Magazine award

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - The College of Sports Information Directors of America announced Tuesday that Alabama senior Emeel Salem has been named to the 2007 ESPN the Magazine First-Team Academic All-American Baseball Team.

Salem has a 3.85 grade point average with a double major in Marketing and Spanish. He is the only Crimson Tide player ever to be named to ESPN the Magazine's First-Team Academic All-American Team for two consecutive years.

Salem was also named to the CoSIDA All-Academic District Four team in 2006 and 2007.

Salem received a ten-thousand-dollar post-graduate scholarship for winning the SEC's highest academic honor. The award will be presented tomorrow at the SEC President's Dinner in Destin, Florida
