Alabama, Auburn players named to All-SEC teams

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Alabama has one player on the first All-Southeastern Conference team and one more on the second team.

Outfielder Emeel Salem made the first team and was named the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. His teammate, designated hitter Alex Avila made the second team. Auburn's Mike Bianucci, an outfielder also was named to the second team.

Florida's Matt LaPorta was named player of the year. Vanderbilt's Tim Corbin was named coach of the year. Pitcher of the year honors went to David Price of Vanderbilt.

The SEC Baseball Tournament opens Wednesday at Regions Park in Hoover. Alabama, a 7th seed, plays Number 2 seed Arkansas at 10 am.
