Mississippi St. 11, Auburn 6

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) - Joseph McCaskill drove in a career-high five runs and Mississippi State beat Auburn 11-6 Saturday night.

It was the fifth Southeastern Conference series victory of the season for the Bulldogs (30-12, 12-9 SEC).

The win over Auburn (28-21, 7-16) kept Mississippi State in second place in the league's Western Division and third overall.

McCaskill gave the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead in the first inning with a three-run double. The Bulldogs pushed that lead to 8-0 after a five-run second inning.

Justin Pigott (4-4) had a career-high 11 strikeouts in the victory. He allowed nine hits and five runs in eight innings.

Taylor Thompson (4-2) took the loss after giving up 10 hits and 10 runs, six of which were earned.

Joseph Sanders went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored to lead Auburn, which committed three errors.
