TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - For the first time in school history, the University of Alabama's softball team was listed Number One in the nation Tuesday when the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top-25 poll was released.
Crimson Tide head coach Patrick Murphy said the news was really exciting and the result of a lot of hard work.
The Tide moved into second place in national rankings for the first time ever on March 13th. It was the first time Alabama had ever been ranked higher than third.
Alabama is 50-and-four this year. It is one of only two teams in the nation with 50 wins.
They are 21-and-four and in a tie for first place in the SEC. They are the second SEC team to ever reach a Number One ranking.
