Wallace College Sports

The Wallace baseball players will have a conference title on their minds this weekend.

The second place Govs play host to first place Alabama Southern in a three game set with the regular season championship on the line.

Game one is set for Friday at two o'clock in Dothan. They’ll play a double-header on Saturday.

Either way, both teams have qualified for the next week's conference tournament in Dothan.

But head coach Mackey Sasser says a regular season title would certainly be nice.

It’s been three years since the Wallace softball won the state title.

Prior to that the lady Govs won the three straight. So, head coach Gene Dews thinks its time for another trophy.

Dews and his squad practiced under the lights tonight at Westgate Park.

They’re preparing to open the state tournament as the top seed on Saturday in Alabaster.

The lady Govs will try to follow up the regular season crown with the all important tournament title.
