Ravens take Grubbs

NFL Logo

NEW YORK (AP) - The Baltimore Ravens have used the 29th overall pick in today's NFL draft to choose Auburn offensive guard Ben Grubbs.

Grubbs became a mainstay at left guard for Auburn after playing nine games at tight end as a freshman. He was the best offensive lineman for the Tigers over the last two seasons and finished his college career with 38 consecutive starts at left guard.

The six-three, 311-pounder will drive defenders off the ball and takes good angles to stymie linebackers. He moves his feet quickly and will work for position, making him extremely effective in passing situations.

Grubbs covers a lot of ground and is very tough to knock off his feet. He made great strides as a senior and displays outstanding blocking technique, but there's room to improve his body strength and leverage.
