Alabama Starting Pitcher Kicked Off Team

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama baseball coach Jim Wells said starting pitcher Bernard Robert has been kicked off the team for breaking team rules.

Robert, a senior who transferred from Southeastern Louisiana before his junior season, had started the Crimson Tide's Saturday Southeastern Conference games.

He was 4-and-5 with a 3.65 ERA in nine starts but was suspended for academics reasons for the first two weeks of the season. Wells declined to say why Robert was dismissed.

The Tide already had a thin pitching staff heading into this weekend's series against South Carolina.
