NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Alex Avila hit two home runs Sunday to help Alabama beat Vanderbilt 5-3.
Avila's homer in the second inning was his sixth of the year and his seventh came in the eighth inning.
Vanderbilt (29-5, 7-5 Southeastern Conference) was ahead 3-2 going into the top of the ninth. But Brandon Belcher of Alabama (20-14, 5-7) hit an RBI single to tie the game at 3-3.
Alabama went up 4-3 in the bottom of the ninth on a steal by Matt Bentley, followed by a RBI single from Belcher that scored Greg Paiml.
Austin Hyatt (3-1) got the win, and Casey Weathers (5-2) suffered the loss.
