Auburn 3, Mississippi 2

Reliever Brett Butts picked up his third save of the year with 2.2 innings of perfect relief, striking out one while facing the minimum eight hitters in Auburn's 3-2 victory over Mississippi Sunday.

With the win, Auburn (20-11, 1-8 Southeastern Conference) avoided an Ole Miss sweep of the series. Ole Miss (21-9, 5-4 SEC) saw its five game winning streak ended.

Johnny Thompson (1-1) earned the win for Auburn, working 1.0 inning out of the pen.

Ole Miss starter Craig Rodriguez (3.2) was tagged with the loss, allowing all of Auburn's runs on six hits and a walk in 3.2 innings.
