MACON, Ga. (AP) - Mike Bianucci hit a two-run homer, had two other run-scoring hits and threw out two runners at the plate from left field, leading Auburn past Mercer 5-1 Tuesday tonight.
Bianucci singled home a run in the first inning to give the Tigers (19-and-9) a 1-to-nothing lead. Casey Stuart's RBI double tied the score for Mercer (18-and-11) in the fourth.
Auburn took the lead for good in the fifth on Bianucci's RBI hit and a sacrifice fly by Joseph Sanders.
Bianucci's homer, his seventh, made it 5-to-1 in the seventh inning. He threw out runners at the plate in each of the first two innings.
Taylor Thompson gave up one run in six innings and got the win. Jason Lowey was the loser in relief.
