COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier wishes
he had more experience at his critical offensive positions.

But Spurrier is pleased that his young skill players are growing
up for the 22nd-ranked Gamecocks.

Spurrier said Tuesday that program consistency begins when a
team has fourth- and fifth-year players leading.

Spurrier says South Carolina (5-1, 2-1 Southeastern Conference)
has not built that depth yet as it heads to No. 2 Alabama (6-0, 3-0
SEC) on Saturday.

The Gamecocks rely on sophomore quarterback Steven Garcia.
Freshman runner Kenny Miles has gotten most of the carries recently
and had his first 100-yard game Saturday against Kentucky.

South Carolina's youngest breakout star is Alshon Jeffery, a
first-year receiver who caught three touchdown passes in the 28-26
victory over the Wildcats.
