A nationwide firearms safety program on wheels rolled into Houston County yesterday.
"Project Childsafe" is a federally funded effort to distribute $20-million firearm safety kits free of charge in all 50 states as well as the US territories.
More than $360,000 have been earmarked for Alabama. And more than 4,000 are being delivered to law enforcement agencies in Houston County for distribution to the public. Each kit comes with a free gunlock and instructions.
