BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - With 14 points apiece, Courtney Jones and LaKenya Lowe led Midfield to a 56-31 victory over Ashford to capture the Class 4-A girls state title.
Jones also had 12 rebounds in Midfield's first state crown win. Meredith Mitchell added ten points for the Patriots (26-and-6), and JaQue'sha Hutton snagged ten rebounds.
Bethany Hornsby led the Yellow Jackets (28-and-4) with 12 points, and Qweeta Ward chipped in with 10.
Midfield outshot Ashford 38-point-seven percent to 20-point-seven percent and outrebounded the Yellow Jackets 52-to-36.
